Is it safe to use and how does it work?
The product is safe to use as directed. It works by eliminating the biological growth that the dust mites need to process the food (dander). The product does not kill the mites outright. The dust mites die through lack of nutrition and this continues for 6 months approx. Mitebusta will also eliminate any hatched mites.
Does it work?
Yes it works very effectively as the tests show.
I vacuum clean my house regularly – does it eliminate dust mites?
Regular vacuum cleaning especially with the latest vacuum cleaner models equipped with vibrating head and HEPA air bag filters removes dead dust mites and their excreta but they are not very effective against live dust mites. The main problem is dust mites have a very strong “head claw” which they use to cling to fabric. So you are fighting with the consequences leaving the problem unsolved. Vacuum cleaning is highly recommended in addition with MITEBUSTA treatment. Once dust mites are dead it is important to remove them ASAP.
Steam cleaning - how effective is it?
Dust mites can’t survive temperatures greater than 55°C. Steam cleaning is effective in carpets but doesn't guarantee 100% results. Dust mites could hide in areas unreached by steam and those who survived will benefit from dump left behind for fast growth. Further more steam cleaning of mattresses, pillows and drapes can easily damage them. MITEBUSTA is stain free solution that leaves your furniture unsoiled and protected for months.
I have been advised to use UV treatment.
One of the natural ways to fight Dust Mites is to expose the mattress to the sun's UV light for a few hours each month. Good idea but…

Dust mites, which infest the cleanest homes and thrive in bedding and carpets, disrupt the protective function of the skin, a study has found. In a paper to be published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, the researchers found that mites and their faeces contain an enzyme, which destroys the protective function of the skin, leaving it vulnerable to other irritants. "People go to hospital only after they develop severe [skin] disease, but little is known as to what happened or what caused it," says Assistant Professor Toshiro Takai of the Atopy Research Centre at the Juntendo University School of Medicine in Tokyo. Takai says the finding provides an explanation for skin-related allergies in humans and he hopes dermatologists would investigate more closely into the role of the dust mite.Reuter, 29th September 2006
It’s hard to add anything else. We are spending hundreds of dollars for skin protection and skin restoration cosmetics annually. MITEBUSTA is a much more effective and much cheaper solution for better looking healthy skin.
I bought a new "allergy free certified" mattress. Furthermore, I just replace my carpet. The carpet layer has assured me it is allergy free as well. Am I safe?
Absolutely the right decision! Sure you are. For the time being. Some mattress and carpet manufactures (even carpet layers) are using dust mite protective spraying as a part of presale preparation. The first question is – how long will it last? All sprays including MITEBUSTA are very active for the first 6 months and lose their strength slowly during next 12 months. That’s why we recommend light reapplication every six months. In the case of your mattress or carpet – can anybody tell you when exactly the produce was sprayed? Was it a couple weeks ago or a few months ago? Was your latest state of the art posturepeadic mattress stored in a cold ventilated shed or was it stuffed in a container for 6-8 weeks? Or even worse – it was on display in the middle of a shop for a while and at least another hundred visitors already tried it? You never know. Mattresses always arrive packed in plastic and reasonably clean. For a very small cost, a small percentage of your mattress' cost or less than the cost of 1sq foot of carpet, you can protect yourself from the very beggining. It’s always much easier to prevent dust mite infestation than to control it later.
Is there any way to completely eliminate dust mites?
Even the richest (and most obsessive) like Michael Jackson can’t totally eliminate these small creatures. Dust mites are born survivors with hundred of thousands of years of developed experience.
MITEBUSTA doesn't provide a “total annihilation” solution but, as proven by the tests, it’s very effective in the control of dust mites. What is the best way to use MITEBUSTA?
- Vacuum clean the house before application
- Apply MITEBUSTA on your carpet, mattress, pillows, duvet inner, drapes and beddings and let it dry in a natural way. Keep windows and doors open to allow better air flow.
- Even if mites are dead, their bodies and excreta can still cause allergic reactions. Vacuum clean your home every day (or at least twice per week) for 12 days after application. If this is too much then we recommend vacuum cleaning at least once a few days after application.
- Apply MITEBUSTA on bedding every time you change it and leave it to dry. One application will last for 18 washes. Use our fabric softener instead of an ordinary one and protect your bedding. The fabric softener provides the same treatment as the spray, it just makes it easier to apply. Simply pour it into the fabric softener tray in your washing machine.
- For best results we recommend to reapply MITEBUSTA every 6 months.
